The Mittica Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting original artwork by Italian and Canadian contemporary artists.  Located at the heart of the West Queen West Art & Design District since April 2004, we have enjoyed exhibiting individual, group and thematic collections from the simply decorative to the unconventional.  Our objective is to promote original artwork as unpretentious; artwork which evokes ideas, impressions and emotions which are often difficult to express in words.

As the mandate of this gallery, showcasing Italian artwork is an effort towards introducing alternative approaches to art from our contemporaries abroad.  We aim to promote and elevate Italian national culture through presenting a stable of Italian artists for the benefit and pleasure of the general public.  Featuring accomplished Italian artists amongst exhibitions by their Canadian contemporaries, gives us the opportunity to educate & expose the public to a diverse artistic circle which would otherwise be inaccessible.

Contemporary artists challenge our preconceived notions and definitions about art and present us with new and innovative approaches in which the choice of subject and medium is endless.  When surrounded with works by contemporary artists one is exposed to a wealth of interpretations by individuals who have chosen to comment and recognize historical, social, political, religious, economic and environmental subjects. Works by contemporary artists add life to an ordinary space and make it exceptional.  Selecting artwork suitable for your space can be challenging, but most important is the pleasure factor.  If it moves you, you will always appreciate and enjoy it.
